mr-mattwu asked: Could you tell me about your A-2 bomber measurements ? As in, how tall are you and what size did you end up ordering. I'm debating between CWU-45 and A-2, so perhaps a word of opinion from you?

I am 6 ft 145 lbs. I used a size 46 as a base and made slight adjustments here and there with regards to length and width based on measurements from other well fitting jackets I own for what I consider a “perfect fit." I purposefully made the length similar to a standard Type III style jacket which is a little more cropped in the body and IMO very flattering. As long as you follow the measuring guide in the How to Order page and not base your measurements on other guys just because they’re a similar height/weight to you(too many variables), you should be good.

A-2 measurements

Shoulder To Shoulder(front): 17.50 in Pit To Pit: 19 in Midsection: 18 in Waist: 18 in Front Length: 22 in Back Length: 24 in Sleeve Length: 26 in Bicep: 7 in Elbow: 6.50 in Wrist: 5.50 in Brown lambskin, YKK silver zippers, sateen lining, shearling collar(standard), and v-quilted placket flap. You get the option of having the placket flap and the suede name patch and at first I was thinking about not even including them to make the jacket as minimal as possible, but after looking at other people’s fit pictures with and without those options applied, the ones without just felt like it was missing something while the ones with gave it that extra "oomph,” as cliche as it sounds, it looked complete. Trust in Drew’s designs is all I’ll say, he knows what he’s doing.

As for debating between those two jackets, I was also going through the same predicament with a black CWU-45/P vs. a brown A-2, but the latter won in the end because of the shearling collar(so luxe and versatile), the cool history, the fact that most of my wardrobe consists of earth tones, plus it resembles Maverick’s(Tom Cruise) G-1 jacket from the movie Top Gun.

Make no mistake though, my next leather will most likely be a black CWU-45/P!
